Most shea butter moisturizers contain only 5% shea butter, but for a product to be truly effective, it must have a minimum of 20% shea butter. That's why our rich and creamy lotion contains 20% virgin, cold-pressed and non-deodorized Ugandan shea butter, enveloping the skin in a soothing, silky cocoon to protect against dehydration and chapping.

East African Shea Nilotik' Butter: Superior Benefits for Skin and Soul

East African Shea Nilotik' Butter is superior to other shea butters on the market. Shea trees in Uganda produce a different variety with a softer texture and pleasant, earthy aroma. It has a higher essential fatty acid content, particularly oleic acid, which gives it a smooth texture and superior moisturizing abilities. Its lower melting temperature also makes it easier to apply to skin and hair.

In contrast, West African shea butter is often refined, bleached and deodorized using high heat, destroying its beneficial properties and resulting in a white, pungent-smelling butter. Shea Nilotik' Butter, on the other hand, retains its natural yellow color without needing to be bleached.

The harvest and production of East African shea butter also follows fair-trade and strict hygiene practices, with the butter being cold-pressed under meticulous conditions at a food-grade mill in Uganda. This enables the women engaged in the trade to earn a decent wage and support their families. West African shea butter production, however, is often uncontrolled, unhygienic and unfairly compensated.
